Paris Fall Fashion Preview

Better Off Red

Autumn is my favorite season; the city of Paris changes colors, the chill in the air makes you want to stay beneath the warmth of your duvet, but the thought of getting dressed gives you all the motivation you need thanks to your delicious new wardrobe. The fashion windows of Paris have gotten an early start on the changing of the colors. Early weather reports indicate it’s going to be another season to celebrate.

Nothing catches this eye more than the absence of color displayed with the presence of all color set off by a truly “wow” color. Nothing says wow like red; this coming season, the city of Paris is like a newspaper, black and white and red all over!

Massimo Dutti has taken full advantage of the trend with black cigarette pants, lacy, long sleeved tops with black silk ties at the waist. Long strands of beaded chains dangle gracefully under white collars reminding us why it’s so fun to be so feminine… elegantly comfortable ballet flats finish the polished understated look. Carry a red bag, or simply tie a beautiful red scarf around the strap of a black one to add the all important statement.

Cigarette pants are all the rage this fall. If a skinny pant fails to compliment your figure, fear not, high waisted trousers in black, flowing straight from the hip to the floor, suit the hippier among us gracefully. Pair them with a white blouse, a little bolero in red, a heal as high as you fancy, and you’ll be stopping traffic with ease. “Ça va, ma belle?”

For elegant simplicity in typical Parisian style, try this look displayed in the window of Massimo Dutti at 34 Rue Tronchet, metro Madeline. If a full pleated skirt doesn’t suit, a pencil skirt will not disappoint when paired with a white blouse, a red cardigan adorned at the waist with a belt in black, and topped off with a generous foulard to save your neck from the nippy fall chill.

A trip to Paris to enjoy the changing autumn colors would not be complete without stopping by to visit the famous windows of Les Galleries Lafayette on Blvd. Haussmann. I was absolutely enchanted by this yummy Escada display. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so I will let these do all the talking.

Chez Zara, this wonderful belted coat covered in oversized hounds-tooth with those gloves and sunglasses beckon me to imagine the numerous wardrobe stretching possibilities. Add a little red and this ensemble is even more tempting than a fresh raspberry macaroon from Fauchon.

Femininity has found its way back to the streets of Paris with welcomed permission. I can hardly wait for my new fall wardrobe to lure me out from under my cozy covers as the temperature continues to drop while the streets turn red hot!
